Pip now workds for a company that creates and installs planetarium systems globally, performing tasks as varied as project management, theatre automation, production of full-dome shows and real-time programming.
Pip's time in History and Philosophy of Science has placed her well for working in a field that crosses over so many boundaries – science, technology, education, business, film and arts. In Pip's words: 'It's amazing how far having knowledge in History and Philosophy of Science can get you in working life. I deal with so many people in museums, technology and film and everyone seems to really appreciate the field of study I come from. History and Philosophy of Science teaches you how to exist in multiple worlds and to be flexible with ideas, which is such a huge benefit in crossover industries.

'As a student who had received his whole education in Europe, to carry out a PhD in Australia has been a very new but also a very positive and exciting cultural experience.
In fact, I can frankly say that the years I spent at the University of Melbourne have been by far the most important for my academic formation. In particular, there are two reasons that make the History and Philosophy of Science program a formidable place for researching at the highest scholarly level. The first reason is the abundance of resources (such as bibliographical material, travel grants and the many possibilities of cultural exchanges with other Universities all around the World).
The second reason is the very friendly and constructive environment of the History and Philosophy of Science program. Such a friendly and positive atmosphere can be experience not only among the postgraduate students but also with the teaching staff who are always ready to help and assist the students in any circumstance.
In conclusion, this is an experience that I warmly recommend to any overseas student interested in carrying out a high quality research in a friendly and helpful environment.'
