About Us
Welcome to the School of Philosophy, Anthropology and Social Inquiry (PASI)
PASI is a new School in the Faculty of Arts that brings a range of disciplines to the study of society, culture, language and intellectual life. Through its combination of disciplines, each of which may be studied in depth, the School provides an understanding of how the peoples of the contemporary world and our region, live, represent and think about, their often mobile existence.
Offering foundational studies in Philosophy, Anthropology and Social Theory, and Gender Studies, the School encourages students to develop a critically informed appreciation of the value and ethics of cross cultural communication and understanding in the context of political economy and traditions of thought. Students are offered the opportunity to apply this appreciation in the interdisciplinary courses offered in Development Studies, History and Philosophy of Science, Logic and Applied Ethics.
All of our staff members are involved in research that informs their teaching, offering diverse perspectives on contemporary global issues. We provide our students with a range of important skills in communication, research methods and critical thinking that equips them for a wide range of employment in the public and private sectors.
PASI fosters a welcoming and intellectually invigorating student environment and offers the opportunity to be taught by and discuss issues with internationally renowned local and visiting scholars.
